Zerwirk restaurant, Munich

The interior of “Zerwirk”, Munich´s first vegan restaurant. I think it´s an absolutely great design – making fun of the “double stacking” you´ll often find in warmer climates when inadequately low grade polypropylene is used for monos.

Rocking for the masses

Mike Simonian, a designer based in San Fransisco, informed me, that he and his partner Maaike Evers (who are together MikeandMaaike) did a project (9th slide on their website) , where they strived to bring rocking to the masses, employing monobloc technology. A very worthwhile venture, I´d say.
Their plastic rocker was one of the winners of Designboom´s rocking chair competition and on display at 100% Design in London, 2002 ..

“Summer Days”

“The exhibition is composed out of 50 pairs of white plastic chairs installed throughout the gallery in the most dissimile ways. The chairs (these model being called ‘Cuba’ by chance) were permanetly put together with metal bolts. Ernesto Oroza

“I put together two or more different chairs and I rearrange the context. I call this poetic process ‘Statement of necessity’. Chairs like this are quite common in the streets, often used by night watchman or mechanics at garages.” Oroza´s monobloc work was also part of his “Reinvented Objects” exhibition at the Saint Etienne 2002 Design Biennale..
